Information about new collaborations, recent performances and developments
July 2009:
Constantine was among the four selected emerging composers attending the Toronto Summer Music Academy (Agnes Grossman, artistic director) on full scholarship, working with the renowned PENDERECKI STRING QUARTET. The week-long workshop culminates with a public performance of works by Caravassilis, Nerenberg, Koksal and Astrapov, in addition to Christos Hatzis' String Quartet No. 2 (the Gathering), on July 31- 8pm, at Walter Hall, Toronto.
April 2009:
NEW RECORDING PROJECT in collaboration with pianist Christina Petrowska - Quilico.
A new double CD recording of solo piano works is currently being recorded by Christina Petrowska - Quilico, one of Canada's foremosts pianists, and a leading interpreter of 20th and 21st century music. More info and updates soon.
April 2009:
FIVE SKETCHES OF CUBIST FOLKLORE premieres at the 25th ZAGREB BIENNALE FESTIVAL (CROATIA):
Commissioned by LesAmis, this 5-movement work receieved it's premiere performance on April 23rd, a the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall, in Zagreb, Croatia, as part of the European Tour of a team of first-rate Canadian instrumentalists: Lynn Kuo, Violin; Rachel Mercer, Cello; Marianna Humetska, Piano & Joseph Macerollo, Accordion.
February 2009:
PORTRAITS FOR TWO PIANOS ON TOUR:
PORTRAITS FOR TWO PIANOS composed in 2002, has recieved 29 performances by the Zaitseva-Fleyman Piano Duo, in Russia, Belarus, Sweden and Israel.
January 2009:
NEW OPERA IN THE WORKS!
SEA CHANGE, a new full length chamber opera on a libretto by Nora Kelly is currently in development and will recieve its first workshop on May 29th in Vancouver, Canada, in partnership with City Opera Vancouver and with the Vancouver International Song Institute. The first workshop of SEA CHANGE will be conducted by Charles Barber, artistic director of City Opera Vancouver.
November 2008:
EUROPEAN PREMIERE BY THE GRUPPETTO QUARTET
BAROQUE REVISITED (for string quartet) recieved its European premiere at the American College of Greece (Pierce Theatre) in Athens, Greece on November 10, by the Gruppetto Quartet. Benefit concert for children and adults suffering from autism.
