World Premiere of

CANDLES in the SAME SPACE

(Poetry of C.P.Cavafy)

Message from the Artistic Director:
The London Song Festival is a new event in London's musical and cultural calendar, built entirely around the classical song repertoire. Four concerts in October, all with a Mediterranean theme, will feature prestigious singers including Martene Grimson, Jeremy Huw Williams and Roderick Williams, singing alongside exciting new vocal talent. Sarah Walker will be giving public master-classes, and there will be premieres of new works specially commissioned for the Festival.

The London Song Festival is born out of only one thing: my love of the song repertoire and my desire to share this love with the widest possible number of people, from school pupil to senior citizen. The world of song is a world in miniature - a short song of three minutes or less can contain the whole gamut of human emotion and experience, and be a perfect blending together of music and poetry, singer and pianist. It is my heartfelt wish that more and more people, both within the music profession and outside it, will enter into this world, savour and enjoy it, and be transported by its magic.
